About . . . hang on let me check . . . two weeks ago,
nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. For those of you who aren’t in the loop, the Sunshine Blogger Award is basically a way for bloggers to support other bloggers.
The rules are pretty simple:
Thank the person who nominated you and add backlinks to their blog.
Answer the 11 (or in this case, 10) questions they posed to you.
Nominate another 11 (10) new bloggers and give them 11 (10) new questions.
Include these rules in your post and use the Sunshine Blogger Award logo.
Where it came from, I really have no clue. I tried googling it when it started making the rounds on Substack, and in her post,
mentioned she did to, and neither of us really got anywhere. But, safe to say, it has been around awhile and is still a great way to connect the blogging community!Anyway, thanks for nominating me, Nicole!
For those of you reading this, you can check out Nicole and her work over at her blog,
! (P.S. Love the name, Nicole!)Now, to answer some questions . . .
What inspired you to start your Substack?
A combination of things, actually. I was first inspired to dive into the realm of writing seriously when I was taking an AP English class and participating in Crazy Writing Week. After Crazy Writing Week, I knew I needed to pursue writing further and was blest to be invited to write for the Controversial Book Club (now The YA Section). After a while, though, I felt God calling me to pursue my own blog where I could focus more on writing to young women, so I started Roses in a Thorny World over on a Wixsite. However, I eventually decided to switch to Substack because it is easier to make the site public for cheaper.
If you could choose one drink to consume for the rest of your life, what would it be? Let’s say that health will not be impacted. 😂
Water . . . I like it best anyway!
If you were to go to Heaven today, whose face would you be most eager to see?
Jesus’, of course!
Who is a literary character that you despise and who is a literary character that you absolutely adore?
Let’s start with the one I adore, which would be Winnie the Pooh. Off the top of my head, I honestly don’t know if I have one that I absolutely despise . . . hhhhhmmmm . . . oh yes, Jay Gatsby . . . he drives me nuts . . . as did the book . . .
If you were forced to do only one hobby for the rest of your life, which one of yours would you choose to keep?
Reading, of course! It’s a great way to learn new things! Unless, writing counts, cause in that case, writing . . . or maybe playing my violin . . . Nicole, this is a very tough question! Uuuummmm . . . reading . . . reading is my final answer . . . I think . . .
What advice would you give your younger self?
Keep your room cleaner so you don’t have to clean up a bigger mess when you’re older, LOL!
Would you rather be famous and poor or unknown and rich?
Unknown and rich. I am an introvert and don’t think I could stand the attention of being famous. I prefer a quieter life.
What do you like to do over the weekends to relax?
Read.
How has God blessed you this week?
I officially finished my school, so I am now completely free from high school. Yay! Thank you, Lord!
If you were an aesthetic, what would yours look like?
This . . . I think it is called cottagecore? . . . I don't know . . .

Questions:
Why do you write about what you write about?
When did you first decided that you wanted to be a writer, and what led you to that decision?
What is your dream job?
Rabbits or hamsters? (Because cats versus dogs is too basic!)
If you could only use Substack, Spotify, or Pinterest, which one would you use and why?
Gel pens or colored pencils?
What is your favorite flower?
Do you prefer to write by hand or type?
What is your favorite book (besides the Bible), and why?
What is your favorite book of the Bible?
Well, this was fun! I hope y’all learned a little more about me and maybe discovered some great new Substackers in the process!
Thanks again, Nicole, for the nomination!
Your sister in Christ,
