I love music (has something to do with my name, I think), especially Christmas music. But while there are many types of Christmas music, many of them don’t point us to the true meaning of Christmas: the incarnation of Jesus Christ (and His subsequent life, death, and resurrection). So today, I want to introduce a few of my favorite albums of Christmas music that keep Christ the center of our attention.
Hamilton Family Christmas
The Hamilton Family Christmas album is a lovely blend of traditional Christmas carols mixed with newer Christmas songs from Majesty Music. The songs featured include “Silent Night,” “Behold the Babe,” and “Go Tell It.” The vocal work (and the instrumental as well) is beautiful and points to the importance of the incarnation, life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior.
The Hamilton Family is one of my favorite artists, and I have enjoyed their work for many years. I hope you will check out their album this year! You can order the CD from their website. It is also available on YouTube and Spotify!
Christmas Sing-Along
This CD, which is related to the one above, is a collection of Christmas songs for children. The album — which is by Patch the Pirate — features some traditional carols, but the majority of the songs were written by Patch the Pirate (Ron Hamilton). While many of the songs talk about the importance of the nativity and what surrounds it, there are a few fun songs that children will get a kick out of.
These songs were ones I grew up listening to, and they always brought a smile to my face during the Christmas season (and before and after if I could get my mom to let me listen to them 😂). This is a great CD to listen to with children, but the songs are for teens and adults as well. I hope that you will take the time to give the Christmas Sing-Along by Patch the Pirate a listen to this Christmas! You can purchase it on the Majesty Music website. It can also be found on YouTube and Spotify.
O Holy Night
This album by Wintley Phipps features many beloved Christmas songs such as “O Holy Night” and “Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow.” The rich, deep voice of Wintley Phipps, along with the enthusiasm he throws into his singing, will bring a light into the Christmas season. It is an album I love, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Although the album is no longer in production (😭), you can find used copies on Amazon or listen to the album on Spotify!
The Promise
Ok, I really enjoy the songs Michael Card writes. The album does not feature any traditional Christmas hymns, but these Christmas songs — written by the artist himself — all point to the wonderful promise God fulfilled when Jesus came to earth. I would heartily encourage you to check out this album. You can purchase it from Card’s website, listen to it on YouTube or Spotify, or (my personal favorite) watch the songs from this album as Card performed them in his Christmas in Belfast Concert!
He Is Born
I thought I better throw in a favorite album of instrumental Christian Christmas music, so here is He Is Born by Brigette Shevy and the Wilds Music. It features instrumental versions of mostly traditional carols that draw your focus to Christ. You can purchase it on the Wilds website or listen to it on Spotify.
Conclusion
Well, there you have it: my top five favorite Christmas Albums that have to do with the real meaning of Christmas! I hope that you’ll give one (or all) of them a listen as you celebrate Christ’s birth this season! God bless, and have a merry Christmas.

Good list. My faves are still the Steven Curtis Chapman Christmas albums. 😀
I will have to check those out!
