“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
For Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff
They comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
— Psalm 23 KJV
The words of Psalm 23 are familiar to us.
The tranquil imagery of the LORD providing for and protecting us is a comfort in trying times.
But how often do we say the words from our heart?
These aren’t just David’s words. They should be the heart cry of every believer’s heart.
The Lord is our shepherd, and we shan’t want, because He provides for us the necessities of life. He is present with us, both through peaceful times and through life’s dark shadows. Even when we face death, even when surrounded by enemies, we should not fear evil, because the Good Shepherd watches over us. He is there providing for us, protecting us, comforting us. Surely, we will experience His goodness and mercy — indeed, we have already experienced it through the salvation by faith through grace in Jesus Christ! We will dwell with the Lord forever and ever!
Do not let the darkness in this world overshadow the peaceful tranquility that we have through God’s constant presence with us. Do not fear the things that man can do, but live with the full assurance that no matter what may come, the Lord is your ever-present Good Shepherd.
Let’s Pray:
Lord,
Thank You for being my ever-present Good Shepherd. Thank You for providing all that I need. Even when I face the darkest time, even if it be death, I know that You are with me, Lord! When I forget Your goodness and grace, chasten me with Your rod. Remind me that You are there, loving me and protecting me from all harm. I rest in You, Abba Father!
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Yes, I realize Sunday is Easter. Yes, I realize that this isn’t particularly Easter-y. This is actually based off of a school assignment, because I have had absolutely no time to really focus on the blog this week. Hopefully, I will find some time next week to get back into the swing of things. That being said, I hope y’all have a wonderful Resurrection Sunday! 🫶🏻🤗
Wishing you a blessed Sunday too! I was too busy to get my regular Wednesday post out today, too, so I am right there with ya!
