Stocking for Studying!
A list of some supplies you might want for studying your Bible this year
You know, a lot of people like to try to read through the Bible in a year, and I think it’s great that people want to read their Bibles! But, when you just read the Bible (especially in the one-year reading plans where you jump all over the place and don’t really have time to meditate on what you’ve read), you don’t get quite as much out of It as when you study It! So, as y’all are getting into this new year, let me encourage you to really study your Bible this year! And I would like to recommend some supplies to help you out with your study!
1. Bible Hub
This is a great website/app where you can find all kinds of great resources to help you study the Bible: maps, commentaries, interlinear Bibles, and so much more! I’ve found it so helpful in my own personal study, as well as when I put together devotionals to send out to you! You can find the website by clicking the button below, or find the app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for free!
2. Highlighters
Highlighters are a great way to keep track of verses that stand out to you while you study! Some people just highlight what stands out to them, while others have a special color-code for keeping track of the purpose of the verses they study. Whether you’re of the former category, the latter, or completely new to the lovely tool known as the highlighter, it is a great way to study your Bible.
There are three ways you can go with highlighters:
Gel highlighters, which won’t bleed through the thin paper used for most Bibles.
Normal highlighters, which are more likely to bleed through the paper because they are wet and not dry.
And, when all else fails, lightly using a color pencil is also a great way to highlight!
I’ve used all three of these, and you can click on the buttons below to see my favorite ones in each category.
3. Bible Tabs
You should probably memorize the books of the Bible in order, but once you do, having Bible tabs is a great way to be able to flip to the book you want so much quicker! I have just added tabs to three of my Bibles and love them so much! It is super helpful when my hands are dry and/or the pages are sticking together. And, less time spent flipping to where you’re headed means more time to spend reading God’s Word!
My favorite Bible tabs are these, but you can find all kinds of tabs out there (and you can even find Bibles with little cut-outs in place of tabs)!
4. Notebook/Journal

When you study, you’re normally gonna want to take notes, and you’ll need somewhere to keep them. Some people like to just write their notes directly in their Bible, but that can often take up a lot of space (even with a journaling Bible). To take deeper and more extensive notes, you’re probably gonna want to find a journal or notebook. You can find them at the Dollar Tree, Five Below, pretty much anywhere!
5. Some Pens
Kinda goes without saying that you need writing utensils to take notes! You probably have some lying around the house, but I really enjoy these pens if you need some new ones!
6. Ribbon Bookmarks
Most Bibles come with at least one ribbon bookmark, but if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably found yourself wanting or even needing more. Well, did you know there are ways to add more ribbon bookmarks to your Bible, giving yourself the amount you need to keep track of all your important places? That’s right! You can purchase ribbon bookmarks to insert in your Bible, or with the right supplies, you follow this DIY tutorial to make your own at home. Trust me, multiple ribbons are such a lifesaver!
And that’s my list of supplies for studying your Bible! Do you have any supplies that you love to use when studying your Bible? If so, I’d love it if you’d share them in the comments below! I hope this post will be helpful to you! God bless your time in the Bible this year!
I am doing a Bible Plan called the Bible Recap, which is free on the Bible app, and I really like it because it helps you to read your Bible in a year, but then also goes in deeper about what you read that day. It's super awesome!
I also use 3x5 or 4x6 cards. I write a verse or 2 on them and take them with me on the go for meditating or memorizing
