Well, Christmas is passed, but I figured we could squeeze in one last installment in our miniseries. Besides, while we typically associate the Magi with the Christmas story, they did not arrive until about two years later!
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
— Matthew 2:11 KJV
These men were powerful and rich by human standards, but they acknowledged Jesus as worthy of their worship. They humbled themselves to bow to this Child, and then they presented Him with costly gifts!
But what do we do today?
Unlike the Magi, we live after the cross and the grave! We have much more reason to worship Him! We have much more reason to humble ourselves before the Lord! We have much more reason to give back to Him things that cost us!
But do we?
Do we truly worship the Lord?
Do we truly humble ourselves, acknowledging that before Him we have nothing to boast of?
Do we give of our time, our possessions, our life, to the One who sacrificed Himself for us?
Jesus gave His all for us, ought we not to give our all to Him?
Let’s Pray:
Jesus,
The Christmas story does not end at the manger, but rather it ends at an empty tomb! What a blessed gift You have given to us! Let us not take it for granted, dear Lord! All that we are and all that we have, these things belong to You. We humbly acknowledge that You, Lord Jesus, are sovereign.
In Your precious Name we pray,
Amen
