Have you ever been told that the Bible was old-fashioned? That what It said was out of style? That It’s words were no longer relevant?
Perhaps that’s what people today want to believe, but it is not true. The Word of God lasts forever. It always will (that’s what forever means). Let’s look a little closer at It’s claim.
The grass withers and the flowers fade . . . .
How true. As Autumn begins here in the U.S., we are seeing the grass wither. Most of the flowers are already dead or dying. That’s generally what happens as we near Winter. We’ve come to expect it.
We also expect other things to come to end. Trends die out almost as soon as they appear. Scientists keep coming up with new explanations based on more recently discovered evidence. Time moves on. People die.
Although we all want to live in ignorance, deep down we know that nothing material lasts forever: not food, not money, not clothes, not even our own bodies. Things age and slowly disappear. And, compared to time as a whole, these things’ time on earth is minuscule at the most.
. . . . but the Word of our God stands forever.
There is one thing that we here on earth can hold onto forever, and that is the Bible. Any word God has ever spoken has either been fulfilled, or will be fulfilled. We can trust His promises and follow His commands joyfully.
The words of the Bible, the inspired Word of God given to men, is always relevant. No matter how many years may go by, It will stand. It has stood. What was true when it was written is still true today, and no man or woman can ever change that. Therefore, we can place our faith in the Bible’s words — we can place our faith in God — knowing that He never has and never will fall. He and His Word will stand forever!
Let’s Pray:
Dear God,
Thank You for the marvelous gift you have given us in the Bible! It is amazing that the God of the universe would deem it right to give to us His Words! Help us to acknowledge the truth within them, and give us opportunities to share them with others. I praise You, for You are forever, and Your Word is forever!
For Your glory I pray,
Amen
