Beautiful in God's Eyes for Young Women
I don't own this book, so this is an image that I feel shows the ideas presented in this book. Photo by Rachel Coyne on Unsplash.
Another month means another recommendation, and this month I want to review a book by one of my absolute favorite authors of Christian nonfiction for women: Elizabeth George! All of her books that I have read have been awesome, and I will probably review all of them (although, those reviews will probably be spaced out)! But today, I want to tell you about her book, Beautiful in God's Eyes for Young Women. I picked it up at the local homeschool library, and I found it to be just as wonderful as the other books of the author's that I have read!
Beautiful in God's Eyes for Young Women is a book written specifically for Christian teen girls. It goes through Proverbs 31:10-31 and shows girls how they can be beautiful in God's eyes on both the inside and the outside. Each chapter looks at one or two verses from the passage, explaining how we can apply the principles lived out by the Proverbs 31 woman in our own lives. Each chapter, except for the last one, also contains a section of Study Questions where the reader is guided through an independent study of related verses.
I loved just about everything in this book! I love how Mrs. George writes in a friendly tone, as if the book was written as a personal letter from her to the reader! I love how she goes through a chapter that seems to talk about a perfect person and shows teen girls how they can actually learn to live out the characteristics found there! And I just love how much I learned from this book!
There are so many things I learned from this book, and I hope you can learn them too! Sometimes the Proverbs 31 woman seems like an impossible person to become, and to be quite honest, no woman can ever be perfect. However, that does not mean that we should not try to follow her example! Elizabeth George shows how we can apply the characteristics shown by the Proverbs 31 woman in our modern culture. We can't live perfectly, but we can try to follow the example set by this woman so that our lives will point to the Lord!
I would say this book is a must read for any teen girl. There are absolutely no content warnings, and it talks about a subject that is applicable in most, if not all, teen girls' lives! I would highly encourage you to read this book! (Oh, and if you happen to no longer be a teenager, Elizabeth George also wrote Beautiful in God's Eyes: The Treasures of the Proverbs 31 Woman for women!)
